Reju, Circle-8 to boost textile recycling in the UK

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2025-07-17 16:09:44 – United Kingdom

Paris-based company Reju has joined hands with Circle-8 Textile Ecosystems to advance textile-to-textile recycling in the UK. It also aims to form strong partnerships to support the shift toward fiber-to-fiber recycling.

In May, Circle-8, which is based in London, acquired a sorting machine from Danish company NewRetex to launch its first automated textile sorting and pre-processing facility (ATSP) with a capacity of 25,000 tons per year. The company plans to build a network of such plants to convert non-reusable textiles into raw material for large-scale textile recyclers.

Through this partnership, Circle-8 will supply Reju’s upcoming European regeneration hubs with raw textile waste from its ATSP. Reju will then use this material to produce its recycled polyester, which will have a carbon footprint 50% lower than that of regular polyester and can be regenerated endlessly.

By providing large quantities of pre-sorted textile waste for Reju’s recycling process, Circle-8 helps ensure accuracy, scalability, and efficiency—crucial for addressing the 700,000 tons of non-reusable textile waste generated in the UK each year.
