Three UK businesses have teamed up to launch the Recycle Router tool, which will help educate the public about how, where, and what to recycle.
Provenance, a software solutions firm, collaborated with Valpak, a sustainable consultant, and Wrap, a British recycling organization, to create a platform that demonstrates how to recycle certain types of packaging in different places. The tool can tell users whether they can recycle certain packaging at their local curbside pickup point or find a nearby facility that can handle packaging materials.
The tool was created as a way to improve the United Kingdom's recycling rates, which now rank 12th in Europe, according to the European Environment Agency.
Its purpose is to clear up the recycling misunderstanding by offering easy-to-understand information on how to keep waste out of landfills.
It also meets consumers' growing environmental concerns. Brands that use the Recycle Router can now provide location-specific recycling instructions to their customers, allowing them to make better-informed decisions about discarded packaging.
Provenance CEO and founder, Jessi Baker, said that brands making genuine and significant investments in good social and environmental impact, including sustainable packaging, are unable to cut through the cacophony of baseless and inconsistent impact claims. Recycle Router enables companies to stand out at the point of sale by claiming credit for actual recyclability while also empowering customers with clear, localized package disposal options.
The platform is presently being rolled out to Provenance's current brand and retail customers, with the goal of expanding the whole solution to other industries in the future.
