To improve the tracking of recycled materials throughout their lifecycle, Recover and TextileGenesis have launched a joint traceability project. Recover is known for producing blends of recycled cotton fibres for brands focused on creating circular fashion. TextileGenesis, a traceability software owned by tech company Lectra, helps fashion manufacturers ensure transparency across the supply chain. Together, the two companies are working to confirm the reliability of Recover’s recycling process.

The pilot project uses TextileGenesis’s Fibercoin tool, which creates a digital version, or “digital twin,” of the recycled material. Each kilogram of Recover’s fibres is assigned a unique digital token to track its journey through the supply chain.

By using these Fibercoins, Recover and TextileGenesis can follow fibres, textiles, and garments from their source to the final product. The project will use two separate tracking approaches to confirm product movement across different stages of the supply chain.

Once the pilot is complete, the companies plan to expand the system to enable end-to-end tracking—from fibre to finished garment—across various retail supply chain scenarios. This would help businesses back up their circularity and recycling claims with clear evidence.
