Ralph Lauren reveals sustainable uniforms for US Open

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2021-08-30 13:43:15 – USA

Polo Ralph Lauren has launched its US Open Campaign and Collection in line with the US Open Tennis Championships, which are held in New York.

The design firm, like in past years, has created a selection of outfits for on-court officials and ball workers. Eco-friendly materials are combined with performance-enhancing unique elements in the designs, which reflect the brand's dedication to sustainability.

The garments are created from yarn produced from recycled plastic bottles and tennis ball cans that the fashion company collected during the 2020 US Open. Wilson, in cooperation with the sports brand, turned the gathered plastic into high-quality yarn for the current uniform.

Ralph Lauren said it will repeat the procedure this year, this time in collaboration with Wilson, for future materials, as part of its ambition to expand its circular production model.

Polo Ralph Lauren has also developed a range of off-the-court fashions for spectators, which can be purchased online, in shops, or at the US Open event. The graphic collection uses a primary color palette and aggressive color blocking in order to create designs that are both new and fun.

It's the first time the tennis tournament has been completely sold out since 2019, and the fashion label wanted to mark the occasion with a campaign. The idea, shot in Arthur Ashe Stadium, depicts both players on the court and spectators in the stands, with the goal of highlighting typical New York attitude and flair. Polo Ralph Lauren's spring, summer, and fall 2021 collections are showcased by models, for both men and women.

The label has been the official outfitter of the US Open Tennis Championships since 2005, providing outfits to on-court officials and ball workers from the start of the relationship. Ralph Lauren has also partnered with the United States Olympic and Paralympic Teams, Wimbledon, the Australian Open, and the PGA Championship.

Polo Ralph Lauren has created a variety of immersive experiences for customers in addition to the campaign and collection. Visitors to the Madison Avenue and Prince Street boutiques can watch live tennis matches via the store windows, while others can buy personalized goods printed on-site. Polo shirts, water bottles, totes, and other items can be personalized customization.
