The New York-based upcycling streetwear master, Nicole McLaughlin has collaborated with Puma to develop a one-of-a-kind jacket, made entirely of Puma goalkeeper gloves.
In the last couple of years, the sportswear label has been big on recycling with McLaughlin priding her work on recycling and sustainability. McLaughlin has previously worked with many renowned brands like Reebok, Foot Locker, and Crocs, to create the outlandish piece of clothing.
McLaughlin has crafted unique outerwear using a selection of the brand’s goalkeeper gloves which range from black and blue to neon yellow and pink.
Another feature of McLaughlin’s upcycled pieces is the contrasting panels and textures which results in making the coat so statement-making. The artist doesn’t see design as a casualty of protecting the environment while making sustainable fashion. The coveted pieces are limited to small batches, making them even more exclusive.
A number of different gloves are featured in the jacket which is all stitched together to create an innovative new classic motorcycle or leather jacket. The jacket is ripe with color and Puma branding and features velcro fastenings at the cuffs and hem.
The goalkeeper glove jacket defines the beginning of an ongoing collaboration between PUMA and Nicole McLaughlin. unique pieces will be caressed by McLaughlin throughout this partnership which will highlight the potential of upcycling by using samples, deadstock, and other PUMA materials.
