New York-based label, Public School, has collaborated with Montblanc, a German luxury brand, on a new eco-conscious accessory collection that features regenerated fabric and environmentally friendly materials.
Econyl yarn, eco-friendly nylon developed through regeneration, is used in both the collection's internal and external materials. The material is made from waste such as fishing nets, carpets, and fabric scraps, and it has the ability to be continuously recycled. The collection strives to demonstrate each brand's commitment to a more sustainable future while also providing fashionable accessories for its customers.
The capsule consists of two envelope bags, a duffel, a belt bag, and a business card holder, each with a leather tag sewn inside that has a manifesto recognizing the buyer's efforts in safeguarding the environment with the purchase. The quotation reads: "Those who dare, those who will, those who care make the difference."
In addition, the business card holder, which has a contrasting lime green lining, is made from leftover leather produced with a CO2-neutral tanning process. On the back of the product is a slogan that reads, "The Pen(cil) is Mightier Than the Sword," referring to Montblanc's typical product categories. Throughout the collection, the same leather is used for specific embellishments, with additional recycled plastic used for buckles and fastenings.
The Montblanc x PSNY series is one of the Public School label's many environmental and socially responsible efforts and collections. The New York label publishes capsules dedicated to major causes, such as the Freedom March, on a monthly basis, with pieces made primarily of organically produced and certified materials.
The label hopes to capture the streetwear of its hometown with its five-piece collection, which includes accessories that represent the New York attitude. The limited-edition collection is available for purchase on the Montblanc or Public School websites.
