US-based performance fabric specialist, PrimaLoft®, is launching an updated version of its P.U.R.E.™ renewable manufacturing technology, which it claims will reduce carbon emissions even further by up to 70%.

PURE stands for 'Produced With Reduced Emissions,' and it was first introduced in 2019. PrimaLoft's development team has been focusing on the novel manufacturing technology as part of the company's ongoing Relentlessly Responsible mission to be as sustainable as possible, without any compromise on its high-performance products.

To achieve the latest version of PrimaLoft PURE, the expert team scrutinized materials, product design, and the manufacturing process itself, innovating at each stage to substantially minimize carbon emissions produced during production.

PrimaLoft has revolutionized synthetic insulation manufacturing, which had previously relied on fossil fuels such as coal and natural gas. This latest version of PURE technology contains a holistic approach that perfectly matches materials, engineered recipes, equipment, and energy production, resulting in a considerable reduction in CO2. According to the company, the proprietary manufacturing technique saves up to 70% of carbon emissions when compared to standard manufacturing methods that are still commonly employed in the sector.

Each material, recipe, technique, and piece of equipment they employ is prioritized with the goal of lowering carbon emissions while preserving product quality and performance characteristics.

Three new PrimaLoft PURE items will be released in 2022, employing the most recent version of the PrimaLoft PURE production process, and will be available for brand partners to utilize in their collections beginning in the spring/summer 2022 season.

PrimaLoft Gold Insulation PURE, PrimaLoft Silver Insulation PURE, and PrimaLoft Black Insulation PURE are the new insulation materials, which are all created with 100% post-consumer recycled material.

Joyce added that their big adjustment in production technology is not the sole reason in decreasing our carbon footprints. They've been using post-consumer recycled polyester in place of virgin polyester in PrimaLoft products since 1997, whenever practical, without sacrificing their world-class performance. This contributes greatly to reducing their emissions, even if PrimaLoft PURE is not used. Since 2015, they estimate that they have saved around 16,000 tonnes of CO2. As they continue to incorporate more recycled material and spread their PURE technology across their footprint and product line, they believe their total impact to be dramatically reduced.
