Anti-odour textile technology provider Polygiene has released an anti-viral technology capable of killing more than 99% of viruses in two hours (per a ISO18184:2019 test).

Called ViralOff, viruses tested — which include Influenza A, BirdFlu, Norovirus and to Corona (SARS) viruses — are reduced in the 99% range, according to the company.

“Think of it as a sanitiser for garments.”, says Ulrika Björk, CEO of Polygiene. Applications for the antiviral technology will range from medical equipment and wear, such as scrubs and uniforms, to consumer products where antiviral properties might be useful, such as face masks, gloves and crucial products.

The company said the product is not yet approved for use with antiviral claims by the US FDA and US EPA.
