Polartec has launched Standard Issue, a new pre-dyed option available in black for its popular fleece fabric range. The company plans to gradually expand this technology across its full product portfolio and introduce more colours based on market demand. This initiative is designed to offer a simpler way to produce one of the most widely used colours in outdoor clothing.

Each year, many brands order large quantities of fleece fabric in very similar shades of black. However, because each shade requires a separate dyeing process, minimum order quantity, and production setup, this leads to added time, cost, and complexity without creating significant visual differences.

With Standard Issue, Polartec aims to make production more efficient and reduce resource use. The pre-dyed fabric can be easily included in product development, helping brands simplify sourcing and speed up timelines. At the same time, it maintains the durability, performance, and reliability that Polartec fabrics are known for. The company has also clarified that this new option is meant to support existing customisation choices, not replace them.

Polartec Standard Issue will be introduced across the company’s full range over time, with plans to expand colour options based on demand. This approach aims to help brands streamline their production processes while still allowing flexibility in design and product differentiation.
