Pakistan ginneries witnessed 24 percent decrease in cotton arrival

Seed cotton (Phutti) equivalent to over 1,339,990 bales of cotton have reached ginneries across Pakistan as of September 1 showing 23.96 percent decline compared to corresponding period last year when ginneries received 1,762,282 bales, according to figures of cotton arrival up to September 1 issued by Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA).

According to the first fortnightly report issued by PCGA on Thursday, out of the total arrivals, 1.33 million bales of cotton have been converted into bales so far. Ginneries in Punjab recorded arrival of 444,563 bales, a decline by 45.14 percent. Sindh ginneries recorded arrival of 895,427 bales while last year Sindh received 951,966 bales. Ginneries in Sindh recorded a shortfall of 11.98 percent as compared to corresponding period last year.

Multan received 1,500 bales 89.31 percent less than last year; Lodhran 3,671 bales 80.04 percent less; Khanewal 101,923 bales 32.75 percent less; Muzaffargarh 8,300 bales, an increase of 20.29 percent; Dera Ghazi Khan 1,000 bales, an increase of 100 percent; Rajanpur 3,000 bales, 172.73 percent increase; Layyah zero, Vehari 76,763 bales 49.86 percent less; Sahiwal 86,841 bales 40.11 percent less than last year; Pakpattan 19,550 bales 65.62 percent less; Okara 10,500 59.68 percent less; Kasur 2,500, 13.87 percent less; Toba Tek Singh 51,871 bales; Faisalabad 22,699 bales; Jhang 13,500 bales; Mianwali 40; Bhakkar 4,200; Sargodha 550; Rahimyar Khan 1,425 bales; Bahawalpur 5,600; and Bahawalnagar 29,130 bales.

In Sindh: Hyderabad 84,508 bales 3.82 percent less than last year; Mirpur Khas (Thar) 1,35,473 bales 18.57 percent less; Sanghar 569,009 bales 2.11 percent less; Nawabshah 2,409 bales; Naushero Feroze 7,273 bales; Jamshoro 66,491 bales; Badin 22,264 bales and Balochistan 7,000 bales.

In Pakistan there are total 372 ginning factories operational, of them 215 are in Punjab and 157 are in Sindh. Textile mills have bought 1,029,690 bales while exporters bought 92,420 bales. The total bales sold out so far were calculated were 1,122,110 bales leaving unsold stock of total 217,880 bales.
