Paka launches sustainable alpaca-based fleece apparel

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2023-12-15 17:07:36 – Peru

Paka, a sustainable outdoor clothing brand based in Peru, has unveiled PAKACLOUD, an innovative polar fabric that marks a significant step in eco-friendly apparel. This special material is crafted from natural alpaca fibers sourced in Cuzco, Peru's mountainous region.

PAKACLOUDâ„¢ fleece, made from traceable Alpaca fibers, stands out by drastically reducing microplastic shedding, offering a superior alternative to over 95% of synthetic fleeces commonly found in the market and known contributors to microplastic pollution.

In a commitment to production transparency, each PAKACLOUD piece features a scannable QR code providing details about the specific farms responsible for sourcing the alpaca fiber.

Beyond its exceptional softness, this natural fleece boasts advanced thermo-regulating properties, providing double the warmth compared to traditional synthetic options. The alpaca fibers, with hollow air pockets, result in a fleece that weighs half as much as standard fleece jackets. The reduced weight, combined with its quarter-zip design, allows for versatile layering options, ensuring optimal warmth in various environments.

The fleece includes thoughtful details like flatlock stitching at the inseams, eliminating odors, chafing, and discomfort. Additionally, the jacket features two flat side pockets for storage without adding bulk. Each fleece is adorned with a handwoven Inca ID on the back collar, paying homage to the Quechua women from Cuzco, Peru, who contribute to the B Corp.
