Oxford Street launches its second sustainability awareness campaign

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2022-03-29 10:33:13 – United Kingdom

Oxford Street will start its second-ever sustainability awareness campaign, showcasing the efforts of some of the UK's most well-known firms to make the high street more sustainable.

Oxford Street has teamed up with British actress and campaigner Amy Jackson to establish a series of sustainability-focused products, experiences, events, and seminars called "Beyond Now 2022."

From the 22nd to the 24th of April, Selfridges will offer resale, rental, repair, and refill services, while Adidas will organize a trainer cleaning workshop and Boots will host a plastic-free period event.

Brands such as Body Shop, John Lewis, Lush, Nike, and Asics are also participating.

Jackson, who most recently starred in the TV show Supergirl, has created her own spring/summer capsule from the responsible and aware collections of over 20 Oxford Street businesses, consisting of 70 products spanning fashion, wellness, and homeware.

Oxford Street also issued a commitment, The Beyond Now Promise, as part of the celebrations, inviting people to make personal vows that will drive change toward a brighter future. Shoppers can commit to a variety of activities, such as re-styling their clothing or swapping their car for a bike while out shopping. Everyone who makes a promise will be entered into a draw to win £500 to spend in a participating store.

Luciana Magliocco, Oxford Street Associate Director, said that as they approach their second year of Beyond Now and introduce their Beyond Now Promise, they encourage everyone to take modest efforts together in order to make a tremendous change. They remain together in their mission to drive good changes in the way they shop and socialize with their brands, partners, ambassadors, and shoppers.

Magliocco added that in order to become more responsible, their brands are looking to the future and analyzing their offerings more thoroughly. In terms of new items, rental, refill, and repair services, they've already seen some intriguing advancements. As an iconic shopping destination, it will continue to strive to make a positive impact on people and the environment as they progress toward a more sustainable future.
