OCA introduces Organic Cotton Training Curriculum in Turkiye

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2025-12-09 16:29:37 – Turkey

The Organic Cotton Accelerator has released Türkiye’s first Organic Cotton Training Curriculum, giving farmers practical and locally relevant advice on crop growing, regenerative methods, and farm management. OCTC is now available to the public in both Turkish and English, along with a Trainer’s Handbook to help promote its use across the sector.

Created in partnership with Ankara-based Prospera Impact and shaped with input from Turkish industry partners, the curriculum adjusts proven farming methods to match Türkiye’s soil, weather, and growing needs. It also features the programme’s first module on regenerative farming, giving clear guidance on improving soil health, boosting biodiversity, and building long-term resilience.

In addition to field-focused training, the OCTC includes fresh modules on farm management and digital literacy. These sections help farmers keep better records, plan inputs and crop cycles more effectively, and use digital tools—from simple phone apps to farm data systems—to track progress and make informed decisions.

“Türkiye’s cotton farmers are ready for the next phase, and the OCTC provides the real-world support they need,” said Ömür Suner, country manager for OCA in Türkiye. “By shaping the curriculum to our national conditions and working closely with local partners, we ensure that every field officer and farmer gets useful, high-quality guidance. This resource is key in strengthening Türkiye’s role in organic cotton production.”
