New fiber developments introduced at Expofil

Expofil is an international show of yarns and fibres for the fashion textile sector. All the latest innovations are showcased at Expofil. Nylstar, Lenzing and Filifine introduced their new fiber developments at Expofil.

Elite from Nylstar, Inc. is the first man-made fiber capable of retaining the ‘memory’ of its original shape and is able to ‘share’ this ability with all the fabrics with which it may happen to combine. With its constant improvement in stretch and ‘memory’ capabilities, its color range and duration, it is a perfect match for the new seamless technology.

Nylstar’s Elite Micro, has three-dimensional elasticity providing limitless freedom of movement and an extremely soft and pleasant feel. Elite Micro was featured in the mini-collection of seamless dresses by Maurizio Galante presented at Expofil, creating dresses that weigh less than 100 grams.
Nylstar is the largest European manufacture of polyamide microfibre whose range of products include the first hollow polyamide fiber in the world, and major breakthroughs in the field of antibacterial, anti-UV, anti-stress and light-resistant fibers.

Lenzing presented their very first yarns made with Lyocell LF, a new Lyocell fiber, at Expofil. Lyocell LF is a low fibrillation fiber with all the positive properties of the established Lyocell fiber. In addition, offers a number of advantages in finishing and dyeing of knitwear, as well as in terry towelling goods, lace and garment dye with its simplified procedures.

Chemical cross-linking during fiber production puts a stop to the fibrillation characteristic of Lyocell. The fiber can be processed like conventional cellulose fibers and special machinery is no longer required. Because of this simplification at the finishing stage, costs can be reduced and competitive Lyocell fabrics can be produced for the textile industry. The fiber’s positive properties, such as the high wet strength in the dry and wet state, remain intact and the fiber’s visual appeal, silky hand and shiny surface are not impaired in any way.

The French and European spinners have developed new ranges and blends with Filifine for the Spring/Summer 2002 season. The French company Caulliez Freres has developed a new Filifine/cotton blend in addition to their 100% Filifine yarns and Filifine/micro-Modal blends. La Liniere Lilloise offered a Filifine/linen blend.

German spinners Leuze Textil, have developed two corespun yarns in Filifine/elasthane blends (metric counts 1/25 and 1/50) which give woven fabrics a soft and pleasant hand. Norgatex spun very fine yarns for the production of chenille using Filifine for underwear and outerwear. This has allowed them to produce a 100% polyester chenille of excellent quality in metric count 10.0. Otto Textil’s range of fine yarns includes a yarn (metric count 1/160) which owes its resistance to Filifine. They also use Filifine for its soft hand and natural look for embroidery yarns.

The Italian spinners Fil Man Made added 100% Filifine yarns and Filifine/coton blends to its Filifine/microModal and Filifine/polyamide ranges. In Spain, HYTSA Levante offered their very first Filifine range of yarns-100% Filifine, Filifine/cotton and Filifine/Tencel blends. They are also developing a corespun Filifine/elasthane yarn for sportswear.
