New Balance introduces innovative ABZORB 1890 trainer

Global sportswear leader New Balance has revealed its newest lifestyle sneaker, the ABZORB 1890. The bold new model combines the brand’s classic design roots with visible technology. It is built on the original 2002 sole unit, which features full-length SBS ABZORB cushioning. This construction delivers the comfort that has long defined ABZORB technology within the brand’s footwear range.

The engineered sole unit provides strong cushioning performance while maintaining a sleek and streamlined profile. The upper includes a no-sew wave cutout pattern layered over exposed mesh, inspired by the iconic New Balance 890v3. This reference to the past highlights the brand’s approach of evolving proven designs rather than completely reinventing them. High-frequency welded reflective “teardrop” elements across the forefoot add a futuristic touch while also improving visibility.

The launch campaign, photographed by Nikolai Ahn, showcases the ABZORB 1890 against the vibrant cityscape of Seoul. Known as a global hub for youth culture, street style and innovation, the city provides a fitting backdrop for a sneaker that connects heritage with the future.
