LG Electronics has partnered up with a luxury fashion retailer, NET-A-PORTER to launch a limited-edition line of gorgeous, environmentally responsible apparel designed from high-quality, natural materials developed to last for years. The exclusive collection will be part of the NET-A-PORTER capsule collection designed to ensure customers live more sustainably and reduce the problems of fashion wastage. The estimated waste of apparel accounts for over $400 billion USD annually.
The new venture is a part of LG’s #CareForWhatYouWear campaign, the consumer electronics company’s ongoing commitment to reducing its global carbon footprint in order to ensure a better tomorrow. The global campaign presented by LG invites consumers to help fight clothing waste by reducing fabric damage by adopting proper laundering methods. The campaign also urges the users to purchase durable, eco-friendly clothes, repurposing garments and giving away garments that are not used to those who will use it. Sharing the same values and outlooks on sustainable practices LG and NET-A-PORTER teamed up with three brands committed to fashion sustainability. They have extended their hand to Mara Hoffman, Le Kasha and Bondi Born to design 100 percent long-lasting machine washable materials that are easy to manage without the need for dry cleaning.
The previous year announced its aggressive Zero Carbon initiative, which stated that the company would achieve net-zero carbon emissions from its global operations by 2030. As they gain popularity in garment care and solutions they focus their innovations on laundry efficiency and fabric care. LG claims that with LG’s advanced clothing care trio – washing machine with AI DD™, DUAL Inverter Heat Pump dryer and Styler, consumers will be able to increase the wardrobe life of their garments with minimum impact on the planet by utilizing electricity efficiently.
Dan Song, the President of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company, stated that as the world leader in wardrobe care solutions, they are responsible for environmental sustainability and their partnership with NET-A-PORTER raises their credibility. He concluded that LG demonstrates its deep commitment to making the world a better place and ensuring that life’s good now and long into the future through its innovation.
