NEMO launches 100% recyclable sleeping bag

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2023-04-26 12:26:50 ā€“ USA

NEMO, an award-winning, independent provider of outdoor gear and accessories built to better the adventure experience, has developed its first recyclable sleeping bag with the updated Forteā„¢ Menā€™s and Womenā€™s 20F/35F series. It is also the first item in NEMO's Endless PromiseTM line, marking an important step toward the company's objective of halving emissions intensity by 2030. With this new line, NEMO is assuming accountability for each product's complete life cycle. To prevent it from ending up in a landfill, every Endless Promise product is made to be recyclable, repairable, and resellable.

With this collection, NEMO revamped its best-selling 3-season Spoonā„¢ shape synthetic sleeping bag using just one material family in order to create an immediate impact. The 2023 Forte is unmatched in sustainability, comfort, and performance, and is now 100% recyclable.

NEMO has made the Endless Promise to conserve resources and prevent equipment from ending up in landfills. Every Endless Promise product has been deliberately created to be mono-polymer so that, at the end of their useful lives, they may be fully and simply recycled. The new line of Forte bags can be recycled or brought to NEMO for resale; clients will either receive a $20 NEMO gift card as appreciation for recycling or a NEMO gift card for the resale value if the bag is in good enough shape for a new owner. Each Endless Promise product can live on, eternally, as RepreveĀ® polyester yarns thanks to NEMO's collaboration with Unifi, a leading textile recycler.

NEMO CEO and founder Cam Brensinger, said that NEMO has produced only products that deserve their place in the world by being truly different and better than what already exists. They take this action because they are acutely aware of the resources needed for manufacturing as well as the waste it generates. Early on, they created the "Ditto" initiative, which repurposed production samples and manufacturing rejects into totes and wallets that are now in high demand. They also introduced the first bamboo-poled tent made of recyclable fabric in 2009. With their Endless Promise Collection, they go beyond simple awareness and assume full accountability for their products long after they have been sold.
