Natural Fibre Welding to offer more jobs through its new facility in Peoria

Natural Fibre Welding NFW is ready to take over 110,000 square feet of new manufacturing space for its plant-based Mirum leather production. The company will eventually produce 10s of millions of square feet of Mirum per year globally.

Vice President at NFW and head of Mirum business unit, Oihana Elizalde says they have been trying for the past two years to work collectively with many brands who are ready to bring Mirum into the market. Mirum is a plant-based alternative that the fashion, footwear and automotive sectors can rely on.

NFW has launched a patch and trim collection through certified converter Medlike-Landes and will announce more partners throughout 2021. Peoria will become a national textile hub and will be facilitated with exceptional capabilities. Denise Moore, Peoria Councilwoman, welcomes NFW as a potential employer and also as a partner in revitalizing their downtown Peoria. Peoria Next Innovation Centre first had 30 employees now it has 80 employees and it is still expanding rapidly.

NFW innovates and develops technologies for plants and natural fibers to generate sustainable resources for the textile industry. These technologies broaden the spectrum of natural capabilities for application in the textile industry and beyond. The design of the technologies with efficient supply chains make the use of renewable resources and waste materials. They believe in respecting the natural ecosystem and are developing technologies to have a positive global impact.
