The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) is the apex trade body that represents the export oriented woven, knit and sweater garment manufacturers and exporters of the country. BGMEA, apart from establishing a healthy business environment between the manufacturers, exporters and importers in the process ensuring a steady growth of the country has gone ahead to set up the laboratory as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories of India (NABL) has given official recognition to the textile testing laboratory of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).

National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) is an autonomous body under the aegis of Department of Science & Technology, Government of India established with the objective to provide Government, Regulators and Industry with a scheme of laboratory accreditation through third-party assessment for formally recognizing the technical competence of laboratories.

The accreditation services are provided for testing, calibration and medical laboratories in accordance with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Standards.

With the Indian recognition, the textile testing laboratory of BGMEA can to announce international standards in testing.

BGMEA has decided to spend of workers’ welfare 10 percent of the profits which will be earned by wthe laboratory.
