MR PORTER's Mr P. own brand has launched a 36-piece knitwear collection made from surplus yarns and recycled and organic materials, as part of its ongoing commitment to design for circularity and sustainability.
The incredibly soft knits, designed for longevity, have been carefully developed from the finest spinners and makers in the Marche region of Italy, celebrating uniqueness, irregularity, and imperfections in each pattern while producing new creations from end-of-life products.
The collection features sweaters, rollnecks, knitted jackets, shirts, T-shirts, and a hoodie in a palette of warm browns, greys, pinks, camels, and navy tones, with iconic and contemporary silhouettes.
The woven pieces are made from a combination of leftover yarn, recycled cashmere, organic cotton, and certified (cruelty-free) wool, echoing Mr P.'s commitment to timelessness and uncompromising quality.
Key pieces include a jacquard-knitted sweater with a blurred, rippling stripe made from virgin wool, alpaca, and cashmere threads, a soft boucle knitted T-shirt spun from wool and silk, and a dropped shoulder chunky hoodie knitted from a wool blend with surplus alpaca threads, with ribbed edges to define the relaxed shape.
Sam Kershaw, Buying Director at MR PORTER, said that Mr P. is continuously developing, and this new recycled knitwear expansion drives an exciting next step towards the brand's philosophy of 'conceived with promise and crafted without compromise.’'
Kershaw added that quality and style remain at the heart of Mr P., and they are thrilled to be able to manufacture these incredibly well-constructed pieces in exemplary profiles. Working closely with their Italian recyclers and producers, they have been able to develop eternal items that all have a unique aesthetic and allow their clients to deepen their understanding of a product's lifecycle in a fresh and important way.
The Mr P. knitwear line is priced between £195 and £745 and is available at MR PORTER beginning February 21, 2022.
