Barcelona-based MEL Composites is supplying a range of advanced composite materials and manufacturing consumables to leading gyroplane manufacturer ELA Aviation for its next-generation aircraft platforms.

The materials include PVC foam cores, 3K and 6K woven carbon fabrics, lightweight stitched multiaxial carbon reinforcements, and a complete range of vacuum consumables specially designed for resin infusion manufacturing.

MEL’s composite materials are used across ELA Aviation’s aircraft portfolio, including in lightweight carbon structural parts such as fuselages, tail assemblies, fairings, and trim systems. These advanced carbon composite components help reduce the overall weight of the aircraft while improving flight performance.

ELA Aviation has developed highly reliable resin infusion manufacturing processes that produce lightweight composite structures with consistent quality and precise weight control. By working closely with MEL Composites, the two companies have further improved laminate designs and customised vacuum consumable solutions to increase production efficiency and reduce material waste.
