Luxury brand Karl Lagerfeld receives German PETA fashion award

Luxury fashion brand, Karl Lagerfeld, has been awarded the German People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) fashion prize.

The special edition K/Kushion Bag, created from cactus leather, won the Best Designer Piece award. The line, which debuted as part of the Karl Lagerfeld x Amber Valletta capsule, was designed to be environmentally friendly.

Valletta, brand’s sustainability ambassador, said that this award is a privilege because it demonstrates that ecologically friendly fashions can be just as stylish and fashionable. She is confident that through creativity, cutting-edge design, and true innovation, they can continue to make substantial progress in this regard.

The bag is also made from recyclable materials and colored with natural dyes. The cactus leather was gathered without the use of herbicides, pesticides, or even irrigation from a natural cactus in a manner that did not harm the ecosystem.

Karl Lagerfeld CEO Pier Paolo Righi, said that this award recognizes the remarkable achievement Amber and our team were able to make with this collection. The collection’s overall success, including this award, means a lot to us as we continue to delight our customers with sustainably created clothes and accessories.

As part of its commitment to sustainability, the company signed the G7 Fashion Pact in 2019, with the purpose of achieving major environmental goals. In 2022, a second sustainable collection of ready-to-wear garments and accessories will be published.
