Canadian athletic apparel retailer, Lululemon Athletica, is expanding its resale program to all US locations as part of its mission to create all of its items with sustainable materials and end-of-life solutions by 2030.
Following a successful two-state experiment last year, Lululemon Like New, the brand's first trade-in and resale program, is now available nationally.
Lululemon Like New will be available to all consumers in the United States starting on Earth Day (April 22), with 100% of the program's profits being reinvested to support Lululemon's Impact Agenda commitments, such as making 100% of products with sustainable materials and end-of-use solutions by 2030.
Celeste Burgoyne, president, Americas and global guest innovation, said that at Lululemon, they're dedicated to making high-quality, long-lasting products that are better for people and the environment. Bringing Lululemon Like New to all US guests is a significant step toward meeting their Impact Agenda goals of reducing their environmental footprint. Their pilot programme has generated tremendous momentum, and they look forward to welcoming new guests around the country.
Lululemon's Impact Agenda is a multi-year plan to build a more fair and sustainable future, with the goal of reducing environmental impact, contributing to a healthier world, and generating long-term wealth. Developing products with sustainable materials and end-of-use solutions are crucial components of creating circularity through new guest models, reducing waste, and developing products with sustainable materials and end-of-use solutions are key aspects of the detailed plan.
Lululemon Like New is based on a cyclical approach that extends the life of products that are meant to last and guarantees that each item is used to its maximum potential. Lululemon visitors can trade in pre-loved Lululemon clothes for an e-gift card at one of the 390-plus participating US locations and buy resale merchandise online through the programme. The expansion features a variety of lightly used Lululemon goods, including pants, tops, shorts, and jackets, with new things being added daily.
