Athletic apparel retailer, Lululemon has revealed the world's first yoga accessories manufactured from Mylo material, as part of its continued commitment to sustainability and the usage of new materials.

The yoga collection includes a yoga mat and two bags, made completely of Mylo, a vegan, sustainable, and animal-free leather substitute developed by California- based company- Bolt Threads using mycelium.

The yoga mat is an updated, sustainable alternative to the brand's 'Take Form Mat,' and incorporates woven Mylo into different patterns to match the placement of hands and feet during a yoga practice. It will be available for purchase in early 2022.

The mat is complemented by two bags made from Mylo which are the Lululemon Meditation & Yoga Mat Bag, as well as the Lululemon Barrel Duffel Bag with intricate woven handles and braided pulls.

Sun Choe, Lululemon's chief product officer, said that as a premium sports brand, having unique and proprietary textiles and other materials that help guests feel their best to perform is something they're proud of.

Choe added that sustainable innovation will continue to play an important role in the future of retail and product, and leveraging a material like Mylo demonstrates their commitment to creating a healthier environment through lower-impact products, while also allowing them to reimagine iconic pieces in their line through a sustainability lens.

Lululemon is a founding member of the Mylo consortium, which brings together worldwide firms to engage in material innovation and contribute to a more sustainable future.
