Trützschler’s advanced TRUECYCLED yarn has now made its way into the interiors of Lotus electric vehicles. In collaboration with the German company Brain of Materials, Trützschler helped ensure that the WYRON Truecycled yarn meets the high standards of the automobile industry. This material is now featured in the Lotus Eletre and Emeya models, showing that eco-friendly materials can also deliver excellent performance.
Brain of Materials, based in Mönchengladbach, Germany, produces the WYRON Truecycled yarn using Trützschler’s modern technology. The yarn is made using a mix of 50% used clothing and 50% recycled polyester. It is used in the backrest areas of car seats, offering a sustainable solution that still lives up to the quality expected by a luxury brand like Lotus, which is known for its high-performance and electric cars.
Lotus has shared that the yarn’s soft feel, lightweight nature, and sustainable features match the design and spirit of their Emeya and Eletre models perfectly. What also adds to its eco-friendly value is that the entire process happens within Western Europe.
“At Lotus, we focus on designing with purpose, combining innovation and sustainability without losing the feel of luxury. The use of WYRON truecycled® yarn shows our commitment to this, and we are proud to be the first car brand to use this material in our models,” said Marie-Camille Lecoq, Head of CMF Sustainability at Lotus.
