Loop Industries has announced a multi-year supply agreement with Nike, under which the global sportswear brand will become a major customer of the Infinite Loop India manufacturing facility. The plant is currently under construction in Gujarat through a partnership between Loop Industries and Ester Industries.
Under the agreement, Loop will supply Nike with Twist, its virgin-quality circular polyester resin produced entirely from textile waste. The material will help reduce Nike’s dependence on both virgin polyester and recycled PET flakes across various product categories.
The Infinite Loop India facility is expected to deliver strong environmental benefits compared to traditional fossil fuel-based polyester production. According to projections, the plant could achieve an 81% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and save up to 418,600 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
All products made using Twist will include full traceability through Loop’s proprietary chemical tracer technology. This system will allow Nike to verify and confirm the textile-to-textile recycled content used in its products.
