Loop Industries launches polyester resin from textile waste

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2025-08-01 15:46:20 – Canada

Loop Industries Inc., a clean technology company focused on advancing circular solutions in the plastics and fiber sectors, has introduced Twist, a branded circular polyester resin made entirely from textile waste. The company is currently in advanced discussions with global apparel brands for supply agreements from its upcoming joint venture facility in India, where Twist will serve as its signature product.

Twist is created using Loop’s patented depolymerization technology. This innovative process breaks down polyester textile waste into its base components, DMT and MEG, which are then purified and repolymerized into new polyester resin. This method removes all dyes, additives, and blended materials, resulting in a resin that is chemically identical to virgin polyester.

The resin delivers exceptional quality, including high purity, consistent color, and excellent dyeing properties, while also improving manufacturing efficiency. It integrates seamlessly into current spinning and textile production systems, making it a practical and scalable solution.

What sets Twist apart is its full traceability, from raw textile waste to the final resin. It contains embedded chemical tracers that allow brands to trace finished products back to their original inputs. This high level of transparency helps brands build trust and meet growing regulatory and consumer demands for sustainability and accountability.

Twist will be produced not only at Loop’s facility in Terrebonne, Canada, but also at its Infinite Loop™ plant in India, which is strategically placed to serve global apparel markets. The resin will be offered at competitive prices, making it an attractive option for brands looking to improve their sustainability profile without sacrificing quality or cost.

“Twist marks a major advancement in textile circularity,” said Giovanni Catino, Chief Revenue Officer at Loop Industries. “It supports the industry’s shift to circular models while offering a product that meets our customers’ performance, traceability, and environmental goals. As we finalize agreements for our India joint venture, Twist is ready to help brands lead in sustainability.”
