Nudea, a lingerie brand known for being certified as a B-Corp, has revealed its plans to become fully circular by the year 2030. They also have their sights set on expanding their presence in the sleepwear category. This announcement comes through their first sustainability report.

Nudea, which started in the UK and later expanded to North America in 2019, acknowledges that there are limited options for reusing or recycling intimate wear. However, they feel a responsibility to lead change in an industry where the usual way of getting rid of old intimate wear is to throw it in the landfill.

To help customers take care of their intimate wear and make it last longer, Nudea already provides a wash bag with each purchase and offers detailed instructions. They also offer a way for customers to recycle bras from any brand through a program called Terracycle's Zero Waste Box. In the span of May to December 2022, they were able to recycle 850 bras using this program.

Nudea's sustainability efforts are being recognized, with their B-Corp apparel score being one of the highest in the industry, totaling 103 overall. This score demonstrates their commitment to ethical and sustainable practices.

The brand produces 47% of its products in Portugal, 38% in China, 12% in India, and 3% in Bulgaria. Nudea ensures that all their factories adhere to a code of conduct that emphasizes fair wages and safe working conditions, as part of their B-Corp commitment. They also make regular visits to their suppliers to ensure compliance.

In the previous year, Nudea introduced a sleepwear collection made entirely from 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton sourced in Tamil Nadu, India. The success of this collection has propelled sleepwear into a mainstream category for the brand, prompting them to express their intentions to expand further in this area.
