Leather Naturally launches LeatherTruthfully campaign

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2023-01-12 17:01:31 – None

Leather Naturally, a non-profit international group that focuses on spreading awareness of the advantages of leather through information and education, has launched a new global campaign called #LeatherTruthfully.

The #LeatherTruthfully campaign aims to correct misconceptions about the production of leather and its place in a sustainable economy by disseminating accurate information about the process.

On Monday, June 6, a #LeatherTruthfully website went live, though the campaign will continue. The #LeatherTruthfully website will dispel misconceptions and provide clear facts about leather production in order to address important topics.

Respected leather designers and pioneers in sustainability, including Anya Hindmarch and Bill Amberg, have lent their support to #LeatherTruthfully on a global scale.

Bill Amberg, said that he is honored to back #LeatherTruly. It's an important campaign that explains how leather is produced and its place in a society in which nothing is wasted. Right now, there are a lot of misconceptions about leather. It's time to honor its illustrious past and remind everyone of leather's cyclical and sustainable characteristics, which fit their aim for a better, healthier earth.

Anya Hindmarch, said that she is a supporter of the #LeatherNaturally campaign's goal of raising awareness about ethical leather production. She believes they should put as much faith in and turn back to nature as they can. Leather is a fantastic, all-natural, resilient, waterproof material that shouldn't be wasted and plays a significant role in any circular economy.

The #LeatherTruthfully campaign was sparked by a glaring lack of knowledge about how leather is produced and its significance to a sustainable future on a global scale. The level of public confusion was recently shown by a Leather UK poll of 2,000 people in the UK. Only 24% of respondents to the survey were aware that hides and skins were an otherwise wasted byproduct of the food business.

50% believe that animals are raised primarily for their leather. The word "vegan leather" is unclear to 74% of people, and 54% are unaware of its makeup or the possibility that it may actually be plastic.

The #LeatherTruthfully website will answer often-asked questions, such as "is leather sustainable" or "are animals slaughtered for leather," with informational responses. The website will also offer a variety of industry information, new viewpoints, and motivational tales from international leather craftsmen.

In the end, the #LeatherTruthfully campaign is a protracted effort to maintain an accurate and worldwide dialogue on all facets of leather production and crafting.
