IT Minister K T Rama Rao at the inaugural of Juki Sewing Machine Training Centre at the Textile Park in Barinepali village of Tagallapali mandal in the district Sircilla on Thursday announced that the government has allocated Rs 1,283 crores in the recent budget, which was 15 times more than the budget allocated in previous year for the development of handloom and jute industry in the State.
Speaking on the occasion, K T Rama Rao pointed out that Sircilla is famous for the production of better quality handloom clothes in the country. Observing this and to provide better employment opportunities to handloom workers the government started textile park in the district.
The government is giving more preference to the textile industry present in the State by giving subsidies and by allocating more money in the budget for establishing more units. And for the production of readymade clothes the government has sanctioned Rs 30 crores for the establishment of Apparel Park in the district to provide self-employment opportunities to many families, who depend on handloom industry including women.
The IL&FS organisation of Tamil Nadu along with the State government will actively participate in the training programme in the Juki training centre, which is giving technical support to the Centre, Rama Rao said and also urged the women to utilize this opportunity and get the training.
About 40 sewing machines were arranged at the Juki training centre and training will be given to about 200 women at the Juki training centre. The officials concerned to take necessary steps for arranging some more machines so that more women could be given training.
