K&R Solutions Group, a specialist in printed tension fabric, graphics, and lightboxes, has announced the widespread adoption of its U.S.-made Bio Knit SEG fabric, engineered with CiCLO technology. Developed by Intrinsic Advanced Materials, CiCLO enables synthetic fibers to biodegrade more naturally, helping reduce microplastic pollution while maintaining signage durability and vibrancy.
Partnering with Departure Media Airport Advertising, the only national OOH company dedicated exclusively to airports, K&R is deploying this sustainable signage solution in more than 30 airports and major retail and corporate environments nationwide.
“This marks a pivotal shift for the industry,” said Karen Fiorentino, owner and managing partner at K&R Solutions Group. “With Bio Knit made using CiCLO technology, brands and airports can embed sustainability into their signage strategies without compromising on quality or visual impact. It’s no longer just an aspiration, it’s a practical standard.”
Bio Knit is crafted by embedding CiCLO technology directly into polyester fibers, creating microscopic pathways that allow microbes to biodegrade the material in natural environments like soil or seawater. The fabric is printed using OEKO-TEX certified inks, ensuring safety and environmental compliance.
“We’re now bringing this responsible innovation into public spaces,” said Cheryl Smyre, vice president of Parkdale Advanced Materials. “Sustainable choices shouldn’t stop at personal products, they should extend to the environments we live and work in, transforming entire industries without sacrificing performance.”
