Leading global retail bank, payments, and shopping service, Klarna, has launched its first set of ongoing shoppable Sustainable Collections in the Klarna App in collaboration with Good On You, the world's premier sustainability rating network for fashion brands. The collections will provide consumers with more transparency regarding sustainable fashion, allowing them to find and make informed purchase decisions based on actionable insights.
The first set of collections features 23 clothing labels such as Arket, Pangaia, and Mara Hoffman. All brands in the current and future curations will have gotten high marks from Good On You's sustainability track records.
Through a transparent grading system, the eco-driven portal strives to provide clients with reputable sources of information. Good On You evaluates a company's impact on people and the environment, assigning them a five-point scale rating based on detailed data points.
The Klarna App will include the Sustainable Collections option in its shoppable part of the homepage, allowing users to tap through and shop featured products in the hopes of inspiring customers with greater transparency.
The curation comes on the heels of the payment provider's carbon emissions tracker, which provided buyers with data to assist influence purchase decisions last year. In its announcement of the agreement, the business stated that it intends to expand the tracker to include CO2 emissions at the product level and enable item comparisons.
David Sandström, Chief Marketing Officer at Klarna, said that their mission is to empower customers to vote with their dollars to affect change. As a first step, they used our CO2 tracker to provide users with information about the environmental impact of their purchases. They are now providing consumers with significant tools to act on this knowledge and inform their purchasing decisions. They’re thrilled to be collaborating with Good On You to curate continuing Sustainable Collections in the Klarna App. Good On You, as leader in sustainability-driven insights, is a fantastic addition to the Klarna App, assisting its users in discovering socially aware products and empowering them to make a genuine difference.
Kathy Kearns, Head of Enterprise at Good On You, said that the fashion industry urgently has to make progress to address its consequences on people and the world. They believe that shoppers have enormous power to keep brands responsible at Good On You, but with widespread greenwashing, it can be difficult for customers to see through all the sustainability propaganda. Klarna supports its mission of making sustainable fashion information more available to consumers so they can make more informed shopping decisions. The Sustainable Collections, which were launched, will assist even more consumers throughout the world in better understanding the impacts of businesses, allowing them to shop consciously and confidently.
The first set of Sustainable Collections is now available for purchase in the United States, Sweden, and Germany through the end of April, with new sets slated to be released throughout 2022 and plans to expand to more territories.
