A three-day jute fair organised by Jute Diversification Promotion Center (JDPC) in collaboration of the district administration for reviving the golden fibre’s past glory ended on upbeat note at Barisal Ashwini Kumar Hall yesterday night.

The fair which housed 17 stalls was inaugurated by the acting divisional commissioner Md Ibrahim on Thursday.

JDPC Monitoring and Extension Executive Mozahidul Islam said that they had succeeded in holding the fair because it had created huge interest among the public. Moreover, diversified jute products were sold up to the mark.

According to the organisers of the fair, jute is a versatile, environment-friendly and it maintains an excellent harmony with the ecosystem. The geo-textile products have earned international recognition and demand.

R and F Jute and Handicrafts was one of the organisations that had put up a stall for displaying and selling its goods at the fair.

Private sector entrepreneurs could substantially contribute to uplifting the economy through promotion and extension of diversified jute products.

Jute plays a crucial role in promoting the culture of Bangladesh and the millions of people involved in this trade .

The fair can be made more attractive to consumers by diversification of jute products on larger scale and they are made sustainable and cheap.
