Vietnam-based manufacturer Xiamen Jude Webbing Co., Ltd. is addressing the technical demands of outdoor equipment by introducing four specialised production processes for high-performance webbing. Used in products such as backpack and tent straps, webbing is regularly exposed to ultraviolet (UV) rays and heavy loads, making durability and strength essential.
To improve colour durability under sunlight, Jude Webbing uses solution dyeing instead of conventional surface dyeing. In this process, pigment is added directly to the polyester melt, allowing the colour to become part of the fibre itself. According to the ISO 105 colourfastness standard, the webbing achieved a UV fastness rating of Grade 4.5 after completing a 1,000-hour xenon-arc ageing test.
To increase tensile strength, the Bluesign partner uses advanced weaving machines from Muller and Kyang Yhe to produce webbing with a uniform weave density. This construction reduces the amount the material stretches when subjected to heavy loads, improving overall strength and performance.
The company also enhances durability by carefully controlling yarn tension during production and applying a heat-setting process. This reduces webbing shrinkage to just 3% at 100°C, allowing it to maintain consistent dimensions and fit reliably with hardware such as buckles. In addition, Jude Webbing offers an optional thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) coating that helps prevent water absorption, providing added protection for outdoor applications.
