J&K working out strategy to set up Textile Park on HMT factory land

The Industries Department has been directed by the Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to work out the strategy of establishing proposed Textile Park at a portion of HMT Factory land as it has stopped its functioning for a long time now.

The industries department has been urged to pursue the matter on fast track so that action on setting up of a Textile Park for the local entrepreneurs is taken up as early as possible.

Omar Abdullah has also directed for taking action for cancelation of land to Steel Authority of India at Lassipora as this Authority has too failed to initiate its programme at the allotted land despite the lapse of so many years. In fact, the land should be allotted to the budding entrepreneurs of the State for launch of MSME Units.

The Government is keenly pursuing the policy of industrialization in the State with focus on nurturing local entrepreneurs and generating employment for the youth. Every step will be taken in this direction to help existing industrial units and encourage launch of new ones by the local youth.

The Chief Minister also held two separate meeting with Chamber of Commerce and Industries from Kashmir and Jammu and Federation Chamber of Industries, Kashmir to discuss the issues relating to the development of industries and handicrafts in the state and assured of full support from the government to the representatives of industries, handicrafts, trade and commerce for rapid growth of these sectors and welfare of the people associated with industrial sector.
