Jeanologia launches Denim Métiers Creative Lab to redefine denim

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2025-08-05 16:18:28 – Spain

Spanish tech company Jeanologia is pushing the limits of design and innovation with the launch of its new creative laboratory, Denim Métiers. The lab aims to explore new artistic and technical approaches to denim, beginning with its debut collection, The Laser Atelier, which highlights how laser finishing can produce intricate, couture-style textures and effects.

“The goal is to break away from old ideas about laser use and reveal its real nature, a creative and expressive tool that can be shaped by any brand, designer, or vision,” explained Carme Santacruz, Jeanologia’s creative director. She added that denim offers endless possibilities for experimentation.

In this first collection, laser technology is used to create designs that resemble fine lace, with floral patterns etched onto denim to reveal delicate layers beneath, such as organza. One standout piece features carved floral shapes on a black and indigo dress. The collection also reimagines corsetry in a modern way, with textures that look like wool or show off sun-faded gradients. Detailed finishes and transparent effects are achieved using BMP files.

Denim Métiers gives Jeanologia a platform to participate in the evolving high-fashion conversation surrounding denim, where luxury brands like Diesel, Schiaparelli, and Balmain are embracing bold surface treatments and advanced textile techniques. Today, 3D effects, rich textures, and layered finishes are becoming essential in seasonal and couture-level collections.

According to Santacruz, the strength of denim lies not in looking back, but in its ability to keep evolving. “The future of denim is not in nostalgia, but in its power to adapt while staying true to its conscious and rebellious spirit,” she said.

“This creative lab marks an official step forward for us, but innovation has always been a part of Jeanologia’s identity since our founding in 1994,” Santacruz shared. “For us, innovation means more than just new methods, it’s about making a real difference and helping shape the future of our industry. This project reflects our collaborative nature, blending creativity, technology, and shared knowledge to lead denim into a new era.”
