Itema is a leading global provider of advanced weaving solutions, including best-in-class weaving machines, spare parts and integrated services. The Company is the only manufacturer in the world to provide the top three weft insertion technologies: rapier, airjet and projectile, with an ample product portfolio and a commitment to continuous innovation and technological advancement of its weaving machines. At the Techtextil India that took place from 24-26 September in Mumbai, Itema exhibited its weaving innovation technology for technical fabrics.

Itema is experiencing an unprecedented growth in India. The company has already gained a strong foothold in influential weaving mills across the country with recent installations of both rapier and airjet versions of our advanced machines, and they are intent to continue doing so, said Updeep Singh, Managing Director of the Italian-headquartered multinational in India.

In India, technical fabrics’ use is already on the rise, both for the internal market and also for exports. Used in applications as far-reaching as buildtech, packtech, agrotech, geotech, indutech, among others, the trend is technical, smart, high-tech, said Mr Toma.

Itema’s absolute best-seller, the R9500 is an unrivalled race horse when it comes to weaving technical fabrics, the company reports. A sturdy, compact, flexible weaving machine, the R9500 features advanced, Itema-patented innovations.

The R9500 comes equipped with high-tech rapiers which ensure its versatility. Flexibility and reliability are guaranteed by the FPA-Free Positive Approach – the weft transfer system developed by Itema’s R&D specifically for tech applications, with no guiding elements in the shed. With the FPA rapiers there are no limits for the tech weaver, making it possible to weave even the finest or high tenacity yarn, multiple pick insertion system, according to the manufacturer.

This, coupled with the new motorized weft cutter, is said to ensure that the widest range of fancy, multifilament and monofilament yarns is successfully woven on Itema’s R9500. Moreover, the simplicity of the Itema rapiers is said to provide for easy setting and a superior machine performance in terms of speed and efficiency.

At the trade fair, Itema presented two brand-new applications available on R9500: fibreglass and airbag OPW. The R9500 fibreglass features an extremely sensitive whip roller created to further compensate the warp tension, as well as dedicated weft cutters and rapiers. In addition to fibreglass, the newly designed rotary spread bar also allows the weaving of mesh fabrics.

The second brand-new application now available on R9500 is Airbag OPW – a booming market segment due to new safety rules endorsed widely by Governments around the world, the company reports. The R9500 sturdy structure is said to guarantee high speed and stability and the machine’s components have been further reinforced and optimized to weave the OPW heavy and sophisticated fabric, whilst quality and flexibility are ensured by the FPA rapiers.

As a provider of the projectile weft insertion technology, Itema offers the redesigned P7300HP V8. Building on the legacy of Sulzer and adding on countless technological advancements, the company aims to prove that the projectile weaving machine is still the perfect choice in the market today to weave some of the most demanding technical fabrics.

The P7300HP V8 features a unique weft insertion system and the widest width up to 655cm. The projectile P7300HP V8 is ideal to weave the widest range of technical fabrics, especially the heaviest yarns, always with outstanding quality, longest lifespan and unparalleled value.
