INVISTA, a global company specialising in chemical intermediates, polymers and fibres, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Epoch Biodesign, a company focused on enzymatic plastic recycling. The agreement aims to support the development of post-consumer recycled nylon 6,6.

The collaboration will combine Epoch Biodesign’s AI-developed recycling enzymes with INVISTA’s experience in polymer production and its global manufacturing network. Together, the companies aim to produce recycled nylon 6,6 with the same quality as virgin material, at a commercial scale.

INVISTA Global Sustainability Director Ethel Garnier said the company is focused on exploring new technologies that can improve the sustainability and reliability of nylon 6,6 supply chains. She added that the partnership brings together the strengths of both companies to address growing demand for recycled nylon 6,6 while continuing to deliver high-quality materials to customers.

Epoch Biodesign CEO Jacob Nathan said that the collaboration supports Epoch’s goal of global deployment and shows that one of the world’s largest nylon 6,6 producers believes in enzymatic recycling as a viable commercial solution. He said working with INVISTA will help drive meaningful change in materials supply chains by turning waste into products that match the performance of virgin materials.
