Ibex has combined advanced textile technology with domestic manufacturing by incorporating Nuyarn performance yarn into its new Nautilus Fisherman Sweater.
The garment is produced using Nuyarn technology with a blend of 70% merino wool and 30% nylon. Unlike conventional yarns, Nuyarn uses a twist-free structure, laying wool fibres over a high-performance filament. This allows the wool to retain its natural properties while improving strength and structure.
As a result, the sweater offers higher thermal efficiency, with improved loft and airflow that support better temperature control. The yarn construction also delivers much greater durability, with significantly higher resistance to wear, abrasion and bursting. The 3D knitting process further reduces environmental impact. Each sweater is knitted directly into its final shape, which limits fabric waste by eliminating cutting and sewing scraps.
Monica Ebert, vice president of sales at Nuyarn, said the collaboration shows how the technology can refresh classic designs. She noted that combining twist-free yarn with custom 3D knitting demonstrates that Nuyarn is not limited to performance base layers.
