German fashion powerhouse Hugo Boss has introduced NovaPoly, a new recycled polyester yarn made from both pre and post-consumer textile waste, as part of its mission to combat microplastic pollution. NovaPoly includes a natural additive that enhances biodegradability, allowing the fibres to break down in a way that mimics natural processes.
Developed in partnership with Jiaren Chemical Recycling and NBC, the NovaPoly yarn will be used exclusively by Hugo Boss in its BOSS and HUGO brands for the first year, with the trademark held by the company. The first BOSS Green garments using NovaPoly will debut in the Spring/Summer 2026 collection and will hit stores worldwide.
Looking ahead, Hugo Boss is considering licensing NovaPoly to make the material accessible to other industry players, further supporting sustainability across fashion.
Additionally, Hugo Boss plans to eliminate polyester and polyamide made from non-renewable sources across all fabrics and linings by 2030, reinforcing its pledge to curb microplastic pollution.
