Hubergroup Deutschland awarded with EcoVadis silver medal

The leading independent source of sustainability ratings, EcoVadis, has recognized the printing ink expert Hubergroup Deutschland for its dedication to sustainability by awarding it a silver medal. The top 20% of the more than 100,000 businesses rated by EcoVadis to date include Hubergroup. EcoVadis analyzes how businesses manage their sustainability in relation to the environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement as part of the assessment.

The global organization EcoVadis has been rating businesses’ efforts to operate sustainably and in accordance with high social standards since 2007. The fact that Hubergroup Deutschland is among the top 20% of all businesses assessed in the assessment speaks to the company’s all-encompassing approach to sustainability. For instance, Hubergroup places a high priority on resource conservation and the creation of environmentally friendly printing inks. The circular economy principle, which emphasizes reducing waste and reusing materials to safeguard the environment, is crucial. The printing ink specialist constantly strives to improve the sustainability of its goods and processes, working together with organizations like Cradle to Cradle, CEFLEX, INGEDE, or EPEA.

Hubergroup was the first manufacturing facility in Germany to implement the ISO 9001 quality management system in the 1990s. Then came the management systems for the environment, workplace health and safety, energy, and HACCP. Hubergroup has also vowed to voluntarily go above and above what is needed by laws and regulations by signing the Responsible Care Global Charter and participating in the Responsible Care project.

Carsten Zölzer, managing director at Hubergroup Deutschland, said that their performance in the EcoVadis ranking demonstrates how seriously they take the subject of sustainability. Their guiding philosophy is to continuously advance the circular economy while taking a holistic approach to sustainability. They are happy to be ranked in the top 25% of all participating companies by EcoVadis across all metrics. However, we also see the outcome as a roadmap for future development because we want to keep promoting sustainable business.

For instance, Hubergroup introduced an oxygen barrier coating in 2022 that enables mono-material packaging for foods that are oxygen-sensitive. For offset printing as well as water- and solvent-based flexo, gravure, and inkjet printing, the company provides printing inks with complete Cradle to Cradle accreditation. As a result, Hubergroup is among the producers with the most comprehensive selection of eco-friendly printing inks.
