HempX by AGI Denim wins C2C gold certification

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2021-04-16 13:12:31 – Pakistan

AGI Denim, the vertical denim manufacturer, is showcasing the new hemp-based breakthrough after months of testing, and it has the accolades to back it up. The Pakistan-based firm, AGI Denim declared on April 13 that its latest HempX content had won Cradle to Cradle Gold certification.

The executive director at AGI Denim, Hasan Javed said that in the world of fibers that can be used to make denim jeans, hemp, particularly in its cottonized form, is emerging as a winner. AGI has invested in new state-of-the-art facilities that use cottonized hemp and recycled fibers to improve yarn and fabric production.

Material health, material conservation, clean energies, and carbon recycling, water stewardship, and social fairness are among the five areas measured by the third-party commodity certification program. For each type, a commodity is ranked as basic, bronze, silver, gold, or platinum.

HempX is made up of a recycled-components mix of organic cotton, hemp, and elastane. Its evaluations of material health and water stewardship revealed substantial water savings: Every day, AGI recycles 300,000 gallons of water and saves 4.4 million gallons of water every month.

Its material reuse evaluation revealed that it can use half a liter of water per meter of material, saving 85% more freshwater than traditional processes, thanks to its DoubleZero dyeing and finishing technology.

HempX is made of 50% renewable energy, which helped it receive high marks in its energy and carbon management evaluation. In the category of social fairness, AGI has aided in the provision of medical services to more than 90,000 individuals in the city and ensured that workers are paid fairly and have resources for personal and professional advancement.

Hemp could become the next major cotton replacement in the apparel industry, thanks to expanding regulations and new developments in the field. Hemp has the power to make more natural denim, which has become the subject of several recent collections, thanks to its regenerative and less water-intensive properties. Levi's Wellthread debuted cottonized hemp denim in 2019 with a 30% hemp content, and just two years later increased the hemp content to 55%.
