Gujarat based clothing, textile MSMEs to soon get an e-commerce platform

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2017-01-27 17:00:00 – Ahmedabad

During the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit and pre-budget consultations, the idea was perceived that a committed e-commerce platform was needed for Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to buy and sell their products through online exchange, according to Mamata Verma, Industries Commissioner, Government of Gujarat.

Stressing over the key issue faced by the MSMEs that is non-availability of market support, the state government has given great importance to the development of the MSME sector in the state. Gujarat based MSMEs will soon get an e-commerce platform to buy and sell products online.

While appealing the MSMEs to join the campaign, the state wants to encourage all the MSMEs to register on the platform to market their products and may go for developing sector-specific platforms as well.

Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) appreciating the move of state government stating that MSMEs in clothing, textile, apparels and other consumer goods will benefit from this

The state has also focused on the various segments in its policies as Gujarat has 2.61 lakh registered MSMEs and 3.12 lakh small scale industries (SSI), according to data available with the state's industries commissioner.

At the recently concluded Vibrant Summit, MSMEs signed 25,578 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) the most in all categories. The government has also laid special emphasis on MSMEs in its policies.
