GFA introduces circular fashion partnership in Türkiye

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2025-12-12 15:40:13 – Turkey

The Global Fashion Agenda (GFA) has introduced the Circular Fashion Partnership: Türkiye, a new programme that will create a national system to collect and recycle post-industrial textile waste starting in early 2026. The goal is to improve the sorting of textile waste in factories, strengthen traceability, and link manufacturers with local recyclers for better material recovery.

The initiative aims to build waste-management systems inside factories and increase textile-to-textile recycling in one of the most important sourcing regions for the fashion industry. The programme is led by GFA, with Rematters as the national lead. It is supported by Reverse Resources, Closed Loop Fashion, and the Circle Economy Foundation, and funded by the H&M Foundation.

Its purpose is to help Türkiye prepare its textile industry for the future by creating economic value from waste and improving its competitiveness in a more regulated global market.

The programme will also help suppliers get ready for upcoming rules, especially EU-related circularity and waste-reduction requirements, while encouraging national cooperation for long-term change. GFA is inviting brands that source from Türkiye to join the partnership.
