G-Star Raw's Cradle to Cradle (C2C) Certified denim fabric library continues to expand.

The Amsterdam-based brand recently debuted a men's and women's range made of C2C Certified Gold Melfort Denim O, lightweight fabric with an irregular slub character and nap feel reminiscent of 1950s jeans.

The 100% organic cotton fabric is dyed in bright red cast indigo extracted from G-RFTPi-Raw Star's for the Planet Indigo dye process, which uses 15% less indigo, 70% fewer additives, no salts, and contains no salt by-product during the reduction and dyeing process. As a result, G-Star is able to conserve water while still producing safe and recyclable water effluent.

In 2017, G-Star collaborated with its chemical partner DyStar and mill partner Artistic Milliners to create the clean indigo dyeing method.

Melfort Denim O is the brand's eighth C2C Certified Gold fabric collection. G-Star was the first company in the world to introduce the C2C Certified Gold denim fabric into the industry in February 2018 under the label Kir Denim Organic, in collaboration with DyStar and Artistic Milliner. The partners also released the world's first Cradle to Cradle certified gold denim fabric with stretch a year later.

Melfort is available in a washed version as well as an exclusive raw denim version with white stitching.

Men's Arc 3D Slim top, Tripe A Straight denim, and Grip 3D Relaxed Tapered jeans are part of the collection. The Revynn Ultra High skirt, Tedie Ultra High jean, and C-Staq 3D Cropped Boyfriend jean are all recent additions to the women's collection. The range is priced between $130 and $230.
