Fulgar, an Italian synthetic fibre business launches a new high performance nylon fibre made from bio-polymer derived entirely from castor oil seed to interpret the needs and values of today’s society. According to the company the fibre – Evo – is suitable for all textile applications, with particular applications for the sports sector, being ultra-light, stretchy and extremely breathable.
Year’s of research made by Fulgar have led to the development of Evo, an innovative high-performance fibre suitable for all textile applications and an ideal solution for the sportswear world. It has quick-drying, non-iron and offers natural thermal and bacterio-static properties, which ensure maximum comfort and unmatched performance, while retaining an intense eco-awareness, Fulgar noted.
Its manufacture is supported by the cultivation of castor oil seeds that grow in arid regions not suited to other forms of agriculture.
The biopolymer that forms the basic constituent of Evo by Fulgar has no adverse impact on the human food chain, unlike many other bio-based polymers that use natural products otherwise destined for the food sector.
According to Fulgar, sustainability is one of the crucial elements in Fulgar's commitment to social responsibility and a philosophy based on the concept of 'A better way to the Future'.
This strategy is an outstanding example of corporate behaviour inspired by environmental awareness, working towards conservation and the improvement of the global ecosystem.
Fulgar operates worldwide in the synthetic yarns market and is a leader in the production and distribution of Polyamide 6.6 and covered spandex in the textile and technical sectors.
Alongside the productive plants in Italy, the Company has invested in Colombo in Sri Lanka with texturising plants and in Zrenjianin, in Serbia with texturising and covering plants. In addition to production plants Fulgar is present in the Turkish market with a sales department.
