Freudenberg launches eco-friendly thermal insulation products

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2023-10-26 17:18:12 – Germany

Freudenberg Performance Materials Apparel, a leading provider of innovative solutions in the clothing industry, has introduced two new advanced thermal insulation products under its comfortemp® brand. These products are made from recycled PET fibers with very low levels of Bisphenol A (BPA), and they are now available globally.

Freudenberg's launch of DOWN FEEL WA 150LB and FIBERBALL WB 400LB demonstrates the company's commitment to sustainability and innovation. These new products are seen as high-quality and eco-friendly alternatives to traditional down insulation, improving both comfort and sustainability in clothing.

DOWN FEEL WA 150LB is a lightweight thermal insulation made of loose fibers, giving clothing a light and fluffy feel. On the other hand, FIBERBALL WB 400LB uses fine fiber clusters to provide excellent breathability, maximum comfort, and minimal clumping after washing and drying.

Freudenberg emphasizes that both of these products are manufactured using advanced technology, utilizing 100% GRS-certified recycled PET fibers. They can be customized based on the desired level of insulation.

Furthermore, these new products meet the strict OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 Class I certifications, which are considered the toughest standards and suitable for even baby clothing. They contain very low levels of BPA, with less than 1 part per million (ppm), well below the OEKO-TEX® threshold.

Merry Chen, Head of Global R&D and Product Compliance at Freudenberg Performance Materials Apparel, explains that the company's commitment to sustainability and customer well-being aligns with the demand for safe and responsible products without compromising quality and performance.

In addition to DOWN FEEL WA 150LB and FIBERBALL WB 400LB, Freudenberg has also introduced HO 80xR in its comfortemp® European range and HoS in this manufacturing season. This new thermal insulation is made from recycled polyamide 6 sourced from plastic waste, such as fishing nets, carpet flooring, and industrial plastic. This sustainable thermal insulation helps extend the lifespan of garments.
