Freudenberg Performance Materials (Freudenberg) has expanded its eco-friendly product range for nonwoven carpet backings. The Lutradur ECO-R and Colback ECO-R backings are made with a significant amount of recycled materials like polyester. Freudenberg aims to assist carpet manufacturers in shifting towards more sustainable products.

Freudenberg's spunbond nonwoven primary and secondary carpet backings make manufacturing carpets easier and more efficient. The company has introduced Colback ECO-R and Lutradur ECO-R backings in Europe, containing 51 to 90% recycled content.

This shift from new to recycled polyester helps conserve natural resources and reduce the carbon footprint of the final products. These ECO-R backings are particularly suitable for carpet tiles, broadloom, dust control mats, and automotive option mats.

Albert Hammerschmied, Director for EMEA carpet business with responsibility for New Business Development and Sustainability, mentioned that Freudenberg's extended ECO range provides a range of solutions to support carpet manufacturers in making sustainable choices that align with their goals and processes.

Freudenberg manufactures carpet backings with recycled content in Europe, North America, and China. This global production allows customers in these regions to improve their carbon footprint by minimizing transportation distances.
