FibreTrace releases free digital blockchain solution ‘MAPPED’

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2023-01-17 16:20:37 – Singapore

Singapore-headquartered FibreTrace, a leader in traceability technologies, has released a free digital traceability solution to the textiles and clothing industry. MAPPED depicts the worldwide textile supply chain from the source of the fiber to the point of sale.

The platform removes the barrier to transparency for producers, manufacturers, brands, and retailers by offering openness in an easy-to-use, globally accessible fashion with no associated fees.

According to FibreTrace, 50% of the largest fashion brands in the world continue to disclose little to no information about their supply chains, and only 12% of brands worldwide publish any insights into their raw material suppliers, despite continued pressure from investors, consumers, and policymakers for transparent supply chain mapping.

According to the company, more than 40% of consumers polled in the US, more than 50% in Europe, and close to 70% in China say they want access to more information about how their clothes were made. The company also claims that 60% of fashion consumers want more transparency about the production process of their clothing.

FibreTrace's MAPPED empowers the industry to build a future that celebrates ethical and sustainable production and consumption at a time when the world is calling for more regulation.

Shannon Mercer, CEO, FibreTrace, said that the textile industry's lack of responsibility has made it easy for wrongdoing and social and environmental negligence. It is the responsibility of brands to examine their supply chain, spot problems, and fix them. Since they at FibreTrace think that transparency shouldn't break the bank, they decided to make FibreTrace MAPPED available without charge in the hopes that they can inspire business leaders to take ownership of their supply chains and make a difference for the better.

FibreTrace MAPPED, which is supported by Blockchain technology, offers an unlimited number of users a centralised digital chain of custody. Due to the cloud-based software solution's accessibility from anywhere, at any time, on any device, it has the ability to upload order and shipping documentation and incorporates existing environmental and social compliance credentials.

The platform lets users create a corporate profile, add colleagues, register their own websites, and invite supply chain partners. It is system-agnostic and can interface with a variety of product and data management systems and tools.
