FibreTrace, Alpine Group partner to improve supply chain transparency

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2023-09-12 16:40:32 – Singapore

A partnership between FibreTrace and Alpine Group is allowing clothing brands to let customers track their garments using a QR code on their phones. FibreTrace uses special technology to track the journey of the fabric, combining digital and physical tracking. They embed a special pigment into the fabric, and scanning devices confirm its authenticity. This information is stored on a digital blockchain, like a digital passport for each product.

Shannon Mercer, the CEO of FibreTrace, is excited about this partnership and believes it will help make the clothing industry more sustainable. Ashok Mahtani, the chairman of Paradise Textiles (part of Alpine Group), agrees and says the fashion industry needs to change to reduce its negative impact on the environment.

Clare Woodford, head of impact at Alpine Group, shares their vision for a more sustainable fashion future and says they want to use their expertise to help brands become more environmentally friendly.

This technology will be available starting in the first quarter of 2024, at the same time Alpine Group is launching a collection of sustainable fabrics called the 'Fuze Family,' which includes textile recycling technology called GreenFuze Circle.
